AT&T Foundation Donates $25,000 to Son of a Saint to Help Bridge Digital Divide Through Academic Support Programs

The contribution from the AT&T Foundation will support technology-based initiatives including tutoring, remedial classes, and Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) programs, as well as mentoring.

The AT&T Foundation is helping Son of a Saint transform the lives and futures of fatherless boys through a $25,000 contribution to support academic intervention programing and bridging the digital divide.

The contribution from the AT&T Foundation will support technology-based initiatives including tutoring, remedial classes, and Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) programs, as well as mentoring.

“Growing from a boy to a man is incredibly difficult for youngsters without a responsible, caring father in their lives to walk beside them and guide them on the journey,” said Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman. “My deputies and I see the effects of that every day. The transformative work of Son of a Saint not only makes a difference for the boys engaged in the program, but that difference will echo for generations. I am pleased to support their work.”

“Our mission is to equip boys with the tools they need to become productive men with hope, vision and the opportunity for a positive future,” said Bivian “Sonny” Lee III, Founder and CEO of Son of a Saint. “Support from leaders like Sheriff Gusman, as well as corporate citizens like AT&T, illustrates how we can change the future by working together as a community today.”

“While our investment in our wired and wireless networks that keep people and communities connected is most obvious, we also invest in people and their futures."

Eric Jones — Regional Director, AT&T Louisiana

“For more than 140 years, AT&T has been investing in Louisiana,” said Eric Jones, Regional Director, AT&T Louisiana. “While our investment in our wired and wireless networks that keep people and communities connected is most obvious, we also invest in people and their futures. We are privileged to support local organizations like Son of a Saint, along with their volunteers and staff, which share our dedication to strengthening the communities where we live and work.”
