HandsOn New Orleans Receives $40,000 Donation from AT&T Foundation

Grant supports Meals for Seniors impacted by COVID-19

The AT&T Foundation has donated $40,000 to HandsOn New Orleans to support their New Orleans Resiliency Initiative So Everyone’s Served (NOLA RISES) that helps meet the needs of seniors in the community who have been impacted by COVID-19.

While many across the city have been impacted by COVID-19, seniors have faced a much greater risk from the virus, and as a result, they have fewer opportunities to acquire food and other necessities.

“Our volunteers are key to our success, but without the financial support of community leaders like the AT&T Foundation, we would not be able to meet the needs of families and residents across New Orleans,” said Chris Cameron, Executive Director, HandsOn New Orleans. “Our organization, our volunteers, and the people we support are very appreciative of these financial resources.”

HandsOn New Orleans has a long history of meeting pressing needs in the community. The organization has had much success with the NOLA RISES, and that experience makes the program essential in the face of the current pandemic.

“In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been remarkable collaboration between government, our business community and local non-profit organizations to show broad commitment for our most vulnerable residents and to strengthen this city," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “I am thankful for the work being done by HandsOn New Orleans and by AT&T and the AT&T Foundation to support seniors, and to help us provide financial support for those who need it the most. The need continues, but we are another step closer."

"Our company is committed to strong communities, and we are proud to support the tremendous work being done by the HandsOn New Orleans team."

Sonia Perez – President, AT&T Southeast States

"We are very excited about the opportunity to help HandsOn New Orleans expand its ability to support seniors in New Orleans and to meet their essential needs by providing meals and PPE supplies," said Sonia Perez, president of AT&T Southeast States. "Our company is committed to strong communities, and we are proud to support the tremendous work being done by the HandsOn New Orleans team."
